Carlow is often overlooked by tourists but natives know it's one of the best counties in Ireland, with gorgeous countryside and a rich history.
Here are 11 things you'll only know if you're from the Dolmen County!
1. The Foundry is the best nightclub in Ireland and if you haven't been there you're missing out. You might even meet DJ John Gibbons, who shot to fame for his hit Pretty Young Thing.
2. After your night out, you'll find almost everyone at the Road House eating a BLT sandwich with a mug of tea to nurse the sore feet from the dancefloor.
3. Billy Bunter's has the finest chips in town.
4.. We love onions. The Carlow GAA team are nicknamed 'The Scallion Eaters' because during the 19th century most of Leinster's onions were grown in Carlow.
5. Everyone is a fan of Richie Kavanagh - one of our county's treasures. Nearly everyone knows every word of his songs or has appeared in one of his music videos.
6. We've all fallen, jumped or been pushed into the fountain at one stage. On Junior Cert results night, students put washing up liquid in it and it fills up with suds.
7. Elvis Presley's ancestors are from Hacketstown and there’s an Elvis festival every year in the town.
8. We actually have a few famous faces from Carlow, including Hollywood style icon Saoirse Ronan, Operation Transformation presenter Kathryn Thomas and rugby player Sean O'Brien. Harry Kehoe, who invented the Rooster potato, was also from Carlow.
9. People who live just over a bridge in Carlow town in the Graiguecullen area like to believe they’re actually from Co Laois - but they’re not.
10. The capstone of the dolmen in Brownshill is the heaviest in Europe.
11. 'Follow me up to Carlow' is a banger.
