Anna Geary's return to Ireland's Fittest Family is out of her control as she prepares to welcome her first child this autumn.

The show coach admitted there are plenty of things she is nervous about ahead of giving birth, but she is loving her pregnancy journey so far.

She also opened up about presenting her brand new RTÉ dating show.

Talking about her Ireland's Fittest Family future, Anna told RSVP Magazine: "A lot of that stuff is out of my control and there are a lot of decisions that have to be made.

"Right now, it is all about me being as healthy as I can be and I am still filming Love In The Country [RTÉ dating show]. I need to have as much energy as possible for that."

Anna has had a very positive pregnancy experience so far.

She said: "There are plenty of things I will be nervous about, I just haven’t uncovered them yet.

"I am still in that phase where everyone is congratulating me and it is really positive. Long may that last because it is a very daunting experience.

"I love hearing real stories because motherhood and fatherhood are amazing, but it is also tough.

"It is probably one of the toughest jobs you will ever be privileged to have. Right now, it is a case of ignorance is bliss for me."

Anna feels lucky not to have experienced any significant health issues during her pregnancy.

She said: "I am lucky to be coming out of the tiredness and nausea stage, but it never prohibited me from working.

"I consider myself to be very lucky in that regard. It wasn’t ideal but I know I was probably in a better position than some other women. I will take the symptoms I had!

Anna loves filming RTÉ dating show Love In The Country, which will hit screens later this year.

She said: "It is going really well. We will get that finished first and then we will worry about everything else after that. For me, it has been a real privilege to meet everyone because anyone who has signed up has really put themselves out there.

"It is their love life, which is a significant part of anyone’s life. For them to be prepared to showcase that on camera is amazing.

"The show is so real, it is not about anything frivolous, these people want to find partners and they want to find love.

"We are starting to see some love blossom and having a front row seat is brilliant for me. I get to be their wing woman, their confidant and sometimes someone to challenge their way of thinking.

"I am looking forward to that being wrapped and getting out on TV later in 2023. Rural Ireland is so vast, there are so many parts of Ireland that are classed as rural.

"The characters you meet and the personalities… I have laughed and cried so much and it is great to be able to give hugs again. It is a show people are really going to enjoy."

Anna and her husband Kev Sexton have been busy renovating their Kildare home but that has been paused until the new arrival comes along.

She said: "We moved in right before the pandemic so we have had a good bit of time in the house together.

"People say you need to be in the house before you understand what you need and want. When we were spending a lot of time there – during Covid we could go nowhere else – I started to do things to the house.

"A lot of the work is done but we might make changes as the months go on. For now, unfortunately, that fund is closed – we are now working on a different fund."
