Annette Kelly is a familiar voice within the wellbeing industry, being a huge advocate for positive mental health and personal development. She is best known for the daily inspirational quotes she posts online, in which she developed into a business with her sister Orla.

The county Tyrone woman established Little Penny Thoughts through a Facebook page in 2015 ‘purely through passion for mental health, mindset and helping people’.

Fast forward to 2022, the page is now followed by almost 480K on the platform. The business has since expanded across several ranges including self-help calendars and diaries.

Little Penny Thoughts was born out of a place of me that wanted to make change in the world of social media. I wanted to create a safe space online. A place where people could come and feel encouraged, empowered, and uplifted”

“I believe that words can be either hurtful or helpful- I’m all about trying to pump out helpful words on a daily basis. I strive to stop people in their tracks so that they can take a pause in this busy world”.

Annette continuously strives to better her ‘inner self’ as she believes that it is ‘important to choose your thoughts, just as you would your clothes everyday’- and she aims to uplift others to feel the same.

“Many times, I have battled with self-doubt and fighting against my inner critic. But I strive to keep my thoughts healthy and optimistic within reason. But when life throws you curve balls it’s very easy to feel overwhelmed. But I try to avoid this by reminding myself that I am capable, worthy and deserving to live a life that feels good on the inside and not a life that just looks good on the outside”.

The wellbeing advocate spoke to RSVP Live, about her new diary range ‘one day at a time’, and how we can live by that mantra.

One day at a time is our yearly diary range - I really believe in that saying. I think its important we remind ourselves of it because life doesn’t travel faster than one day at a time and sometimes, we overwhelm ourselves by thinking too far ahead into the future. I feel that can often steal the joy out of the present”.

“Nobody on this earth has it all figured out, there is no timeline or measuring stick of whether you’re ahead or behind. If you’re feeling a bit lost just trust that if you put in the work to pursue a passion, it will take you to a destination that you could never expect”.

Annette began on her personal development journey in her mid-20’s, stating that she was ‘lost and on a journey of self-discovery’.

“Slowly but surely I’m getting there, I’m going with it! Hopefully my journey inspires others to keep going too.”
