Summer is here, and we all know that sun's out = buns out!
Many of us have neglected our exercise regimes in lockdown for various reasons, and might not be feeling super body confident when it's time to break out the bikini.
But personal trainer Rob Zaharia says that it's never too late to start building exercise into your day, and if you're consistent with your workouts, you could start to notice a difference in a couple of weeks.
He told RSVP Magazine that squatting is a great exercise to start off with to give you a toned bum.
You could start off with just 10 or 20 and build up to being able to do more, or add in some dumbells when you get stronger.
Other good exercises for a toned booty include glute raises, where you lie on the ground with your legs flat on the floor, and raise your bum up, giving it a squeeze at the top before slowly lowering it down.
You can also try single-leg glute raises to mix it up and for a bit of an extra challenge.
Rob warned that a common mistake people make when exercising is just doing strength training, or just doing cardio.
"A healthy exercise regime includes a mix of cardio, strength, mobility and flexibility," he said.
He added that it's important to build rest days into your schedule.
"When you start exercising, you’re going to want to do as much as you can at the start. But that is sometimes not as beneficial as taking rest days," he explained.
"The best approach if you’re starting out is working out two to three times a week, with a rest day in between. If you feel tired, that’s your body telling you 'Hey, I need a little bit more recovery time.' Then you can take a rest day away as you get fitter."
