Social welfare recipients have been given a checklist of three things they need to do ahead of the cost of living lump sums being paid.
We are only days away from the first round of bonuses being paid, with more to follow in the coming weeks.
However, to ensure that everyone gets their payments on time, here is what you should do:

Make sure you’re aware of the dates

Fradulent activities
In a statement on their website, the Department of Social Protection has warned people that sophisticated scams are ongoing regarding Budget 2024 lump sums.
Make sure you are not accidentally giving information to scammers or clicking links that pretend to be from the Government.
They said: “Following the Budget 2024 announcement there may be an increase in fraudulent texts or calls asking people to register for the lump sums and double payments. If you are entitled to a lump sum or double payment, these will be automatically paid and you do not need to apply for it.
“We are aware of fraudulent text messages claiming to be from the department. These texts will sometimes seek personal information or ask you to verify details, for example, for Cost of Living Payments.
“DSP staff never ask for such details by text. If you receive a text claiming to be from the department, please do not engage and do not share any part of your PPS number, bank account details or any other personal information.
“If you have provided any bank details please contact your bank immediately. If you have provided any of your personal information, please contact the Gardaí immediately.”
Your details are correct
As previously stated, there are six cost of living lump sums being sent out this month alone.
However, each has different criteria to quality for them. You can check if they apply to you here.
Another thing to check is that all your details are correct, including those relating to your bank or preferred payment method. This ensures that you will be paid on time and won’t have to wait for your social welfare lump sum.
