If you are a dog owner then you will be well aware of the zoomies.
Zoomies occur when our pets get a burst of energy that suddenly sees them bouncing from room to room, running in circles and parkouring off the couch.
But what is the reason behind it, if any?

According to the American Kennel Club, the actual term for the zoomies are frenetic random activity periods (FRAPs) - the more you know!
The reasons behind it
The purpose behind the zoomies is pretty self explanatory, to help our pets express pent up energy:
"Generally speaking, dog zoomies happen when dogs are feeling happy and excited," says Amelia Wieber, dog behavior consultant, trainer, and Daily Paws Advisory Board member. It's just good fun for your pup (until a kid or a vase gets knocked over).
Your pet may be releasing anxieties or feeling over excited, in a good mood or even warming up for a walk they know is coming.
When it's a problem
Dog zoomies are normally nothing to worry about. However if you feel like your pet is experiencing this behaviour more and more, it could mean they need more physical activity, and you may want to increase walks.
