THE HAPPY COUPLE

Kerrie Creedon, from Dublin, and Anthony Grendon, Kildare.

THE PROPOSAL

When lockdown restrictions lifted, Anthony took me away to The Europe Hotel in Killarney and popped the question in front of the lake.

It was a total surprise and very unexpected!

Anthony chose to pop the question in Kerry as my Dad is from there and it is where I get my name from.

THE FIRST GLANCE

We met in McSorleys in Ranelagh on a cold January night in 2015.

THE RECEPTION

We had out reception at the Heritage, Killenard, Laois. We wanted somewhere relatively close to Dublin and Kildare and were so impressed with the ballroom and staircase.

We knew it was the one the moment we viewed the venue and as Anthony’s ‘second’ love is golf, it was a nice bonus to have a golf course on site!

THE WEATHER

The weather was very hot the day of! It was the hottest August day ever recorded in Ireland as temperatures got up to 31.7C!

THE DRESS

My dress was a Mark Lesley dress, he is a UK designer, and I got it from La Bella Sposa. I chose it with great difficulty, I’m very indecisive!

THE PHOTOGRAPHER

We had Mark Donovan Photography – Mark was very calm and patient with us!

THE FRIST DANCE

Elton John – Your Song. It’s one of our favourites.

THE HIGHLIGHTS

The music at the church ceremony was beautiful. Three of Anthony’s cousins are professional singers (Amie Grendon Music) and provided the ceremony music for us. I think everyone really enjoyed it.

The day of, the weather was warmer than what you could expect at a destination wedding! It really felt like everyone was in holiday mode. However, it was tough to get a good sleep the night before with the heatwave!

THE STRESS FACTOR

I found it stressful as we only had 10 months to plan the wedding from our engagement to the wedding day. I found that a lot of vendors were booked up due to the backlog from post Covid weddings. But it all worked out perfectly in the end.

THE HONEYMOON

We went to Portugal for a few days directly after the wedding but have just returned from our main honeymoon which was to Mexico, New York and Chicago.

THE ADVICE

Try to be organised and prioritise the important things and delegate.

Enjoy the lead up to the big day and try to relax!
