Emmerdale fans will have to say goodbye to David Metcalfe as he bids farewell to his family.
Elsewhere in the village, things heat up between Tracy and Caleb, as Mack continues his search for Chloe and his son.
It comes as show producer Laura Shawn warned at a press event that a tragedy will strike in the New Year.

She said: “There's going to be tragedy in the village in January that's going to affect two of our most-loved families.
“It's ultimately going to tear friendships apart and change the dynamics of one of those families forever.”
Here are your Emmerdale spoilers for the week of 27 November to 1 December 2023.
David’s departure
David’s birthday arrives, but people are focusing on Jacob as his family and friends speculate who his mystery girlfriend could be. When his father comes home early, Jacob and Victoria are interrupted as they make use of the empty house, which leads to the youngster telling a big lie.
He falsely confesses that Gabby is his mystery partner, all the while Victoria is upstairs and overhears everything that is happening.
After David leaves, Jacob reassures Victoria that Gabby will lie for him. However, his father makes his way to the pub and teases an oblivious Gabby about her supposed romance - leaving her perplexed.
Later on, Jacob once again pulls Victoria in for a kiss, which blows up their entire secret romance as David witnesses the interaction through a window.
Destroyed by what he just witnessed, David feels betrayed and decides that his future no longer lies in Emmerdale village. He packs up his life, says goodbye to his family and drives away.
Mack becomes desperate
After ending their relationship and finding out that Chloe has disappeared, Mack goes on another night of searching for her and his son Reuben.
Elsewhere in the village, Amy is afraid that she’ll never hear from her sister again.
She is confronted by Mack, who begs her and Matty to tell him if they’ve heard anything.
Charity offers him some advice - keeps Amy close and stay on her good side as they both want to find Chloe.
Amit considers leaving the village
After failed to connect with Laurel and the family, Amit decides he’s going to return to India, leaving Suni shocked by his plans.
Deciding to mend bridges, Suni tries to change Laurel’s mind regarding her attitude towards Amit, and attempts to get his Dad to reconsider his decision.
In an effort to sort things. Laurel goes to Nicky to get an explanation as to why Amit punched him. She is unaware that Amit is eavesdropping and is afraid that his Rishi-related secret will be revealed.
Suni organises a fun night out at a bar for him, Nicky, Gabby and Ethan. Things go pear-shaped when Suni’s mistrust of Nicky about him keeping Amit’s secret makes him break-up with him.
However, he quickly regrets his actions and instead ends up putting some distance between himself and his father.
But can Amit reconcile with his family before he goes and will Nicky and Nicky make things up?
Tracy can’t resist Caleb
Things heat up between Tracy and Caleb, after the two share passionate kisses.
However, she decides to leave their attraction behind her and instead focus on her family as she convinces Nate to take the afternoon off and spend it with her.
Her resolve weakens as the entire family gathers to celebrate Cain’s birthday. She has trouble with the idea that Caleb will be sitting so close to her and excuses herself to head to the toilet.
Caleb isn’t far behind her, with the pair locking lips again, but they are nearly caught by Cain. When Caleb leaves, she isn’t far behind, with the pair playing a risky game.
