It’s fair to say that last night’s Late Late Toy Show was a complete success.
This year’s Late Late Toy Show was the first for host Patrick Kielty, and by all accounts, he completely knocked it out of the park.
The Late Late Toy Show is an Irish institution, and is watched live by Irish people all over the country, and the world, every single year. For many, it signifies the beginning of the Christmas period.

The Toy Show is usually packed full of emotional moments and this year was no exception.
However, there was one special moment that had us all really choked up.
Host Patrick Kielty began by reminding the audience that this year, An Post would like people to send love to their loved ones near and far this Christmas.
Patrick then introduced the magnificent Toy Show hamper which An Post has provided for everyone in the audience to send a card, package or post to their loved ones across the world during the festive season.
The hamper also included some fantastic Irish owned treats and goodies.
There was one available for everyone in the audience, except for one woman.
The host made his way into the audience and spoke to a lady named Carol O’Brien and her daughter, Bernice, who are from Navan.
“Now I know that this is a bit of a disappointment because we’re letting everyone send messages to other people.” says Patrick to Carol.
“But, you’re not going to be sending any messages tonight. We know that you have family in Perth, Australia, for the last 6 years and you haven’t seen them.
“So what we’re going to do is we’re going to send you a little message from them.”
The host directed Carol to look at the screen ahead, which showed her daughter, Joanne, her son-in-law, Richard, and their two kids sending a loving message to Carol that they’ll be watching the Toy Show all the way from Australia.
Then, Patrick went on to give Carol the gift of a lifetime.
“Now, they say they’ll be watching you on the TV, but I have to say they’re terrible liars because they’re actually right here behind this Christmas tree.
“They’ve flown in from Australia.”
Joanne, Richard and kids, Eva and Ben, appeared from behind the giant Christmas tree, much to the shock of Carol.
Led down the steps by Patrick, Carol had a tearful reunion with her daughter right on the Late Late Toy Show stage.
There wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
There was an emotional reaction to this wonderful moment online, as viewers flocked to X (formerly Twitter) to share how touched they were by the sweet moment.
“I’m not crying you are”, said one emotional viewer, while another commented, “Such a beautiful moment.”.
Other viewers said, “Not a dry eye here, enjoy folks ,so special”, “Just beautiful, enjoy home so special”, and “Beautiful loved it.”
Late Late Toy Show viewers also took to social media to congratulate Patrick Kielty on a well done show.
“Take a bow sir, absolutely knocked it out the park tonight!! The first of many many to come I hope!”, while another fond fan said, “Patrick is so genuine with the children i absolutely love him. He smashed it tonight.”
One fan even commented on how emotional this year’s Toy Show has been.
“Cutting about 5 onions a minute. I'm not crying, it's allergies honestly.”
