It's fair to say this summer in Ireland has been less than desirable on the weather front.
We had a couple of nice days in June, July was the wettest July on record, and so far August has been a mixed bag.
It seems things have turned a corner and rainfall isn't as heavy as it was in July.

But even so, the recent washouts have left homes across the country facing challenges when it comes to maintaining their gardens.
Experts at Two Wests & Elliot have now given their top tips on how gardens can combat the effects of rain and reinstate their gardens to their full glory.
Evaluate the drainage structure
You can do this by checking for clogged gutters and blocked pipes. Potentially incorporating more flowers, plants and vegetables can help to absorb the excess rainwater.
Alter your watering schedule
Since the soil in your garden is soaked from the heavy rain, you may want to consider testing the soil's moisture to you can effectively change your watering routine so you don’t overwater. Overwatering can cause root rot and various diseases so be careful and cautious.
Get weeding
We know that large amounts of rainfall can encourage dreaded weeds to grow in your garden! It’s time to get down and start your weeding to bring your garden back to life to allow your flowers and plants to absorb all of the nutrients.
Examine your plants for damage
Signs of damage you can look out for include broken branches, yellowing leaves, or wilting. Trim damaged parts carefully to encourage new growth and prevent the spread of diseases.
Start pruning
If your plants are now overgrown due to excessive rain, consider pruning and training them to maintain their shape and encourage healthy growth.
Remember that each garden is unique, and adjusting your approach to suit your specific plants and conditions will yield the best results.
