Lynn Creech Murphey joined the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation in 2017.

Under her leadership, Knight Foundation’s investments have catalyzed transformative projects in Macon. Key projects include relocating Mercer University’s medical school to downtown, activating NewTown Macon’s Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) status, restoring the historic Capricorn Studios, opening the Otis Redding Center for the Arts and launching the region’s first nonprofit newspaper, The Macon Melody.  

Before joining Knight, Murphey spent more than 20 years with Cox Communications, most recently serving as vice president and market leader for Middle Georgia. Her career also includes work at the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce and Macon City Hall. 

A graduate of Mercer University and Leadership Georgia, Murphey is known for her collaborative civic leadership and deep commitment to community building. She lives in Macon’s Vineville Historic District with her husband.
