Karen was born in October 1974, making her 48 years old. She is originally from Yorkshire, England - which is the same place Emmerdale village is set.
She said landing a role on the popular soap opera was her dream as she is local to the area.
When did Karen first appear in Emmerdale?
Karen’s character Lydia first joined Emmerdale back in 2016, however, it wasn’t the actress’ first time appearing on the soap.
She had a small role in the programme back in 2006 and played an unnamed nurse at the abortion clinic Viv Hope visited.
Who is Karen’s husband?
Karen tied the knot to her long-term boyfriend Simon in 201. The couple first met in 1996 while they were both working for an outdoor children’s pursuit company.
Their wedding involved a simple and affordable ceremony with Karen sharing that she actually used Groupon to cut back on costs.
She and her husband invited 100 guests, who all enjoyed a three-course meal and a fun party afterwards.
They decided that after being together for so long, they didn’t want to spend too much money.
The soap star explained that Simon was actually the one to encourage her to continue her acting dreams as she was thinking about giving it up before taking on the role of Lydia on Emmerdale.
How many children does Karen have?
Karen and Simon have welcomed two children together. She has a daughter named Ruby and a son called Oliver.
In July 2020, her son fell off his scooter and broke his leg in the accident, however, he was all patched up at the hospital afterwards.
Unfortunately, Oliver was too small for crutches and had to use a frame to walk around instead.
