They had not received the all-clear to enter Westminster Abbey which left them in the carriage.
According to a professional lip reader, this was all due to a hold-up which caused everything to run behind schedule.
The lip reader told the Daily Mail that King Charles expressed out his frustration to Queen Camilla in the carriage.
Charles reportedly said “we can never be on time”.
“We can never be on time. Yes, I’m … this is a negative. There’s always something,” the lip reader claimed the King said.
Prince William and Princess Kate were meant to be seated before the new King and Queen arrived at Westminster Abbey, according to the order of service released by Buckingham Palace.
However, it has been claimed the couple arrived after the monarchs which left them waiting as William and Kate were forced to join the procession behind them.
But when the Wales’ did arrive, Kate wowed royal watchers in her stunning white embroidered gown and multi-coloured cape.
It was reported that no-one would be wearing a tiara, however, Kate did don a Jess Collet x Alexander McQueen headpiece which featured silver bullion, crystal, and silver thread leaf embroidery.
Her daughter Princess Charlotte wore a similar headpiece that was on a smaller scale.
The Princess of Wales also paid tribute to Diana and the late Queen with her jewellery choice.
She wore the George VI Festoon necklace, which was originally made for then-Princess Elizabeth in 1950 and a pair of pearl and diamond earrings that previously belonged to Princess Diana.
