In today's fast-paced world, it's easy to get overwhelmed and feel disconnected from ourselves.
Our nervous system, which plays a vital role in regulating our body's responses to stress and maintaining overall well-being, can often bear the brunt of our busy lives. However, incorporating simple practices into our daily routine can help create more flow in our day and support our nervous system, leading to improved physical and mental health.
Laura Carr, The Mindset Coach (Mind Body Connection) recommends “carving out micro-moments of bliss” and “giving yourself permission to feel the way you feel and know that it’s a phase and mindfully focusing on doing the things you know are going to support.”

Here are 7 tips that Laura recommends to improve your overall mood and regain morning energy:
Wake up and Get Sunlight - Step Outside Starting your day with exposure to natural sunlight can work wonders for your nervous system. Sunlight exposure helps regulate the production of melatonin, the hormone that controls our sleep-wake cycle, and boosts the production of serotonin, a neurotransmitter responsible for mood regulation. Simply stepping outside and taking in the natural light for a few minutes in the morning can help you feel more awake, alert, and in sync with your body's natural rhythms.
Stand Up and Stretch to Connect with Your Breath As soon as you wake up- Take a few moments to stand up and stretch. Stretching helps release tension in your muscles and promotes blood flow, which can help you feel more awake and alert. Paying attention to your breath while stretching can also help you connect with your body and calm your nervous system.
Meditate/Breathwork/Tapping Meditation- Breathwork and tapping are powerful practices that can support your nervous system by reducing stress and promoting relaxation. Meditation involves focusing your attention and eliminating the stream of thoughts that may be crowding your mind, while breathwork involves intentional breathing techniques to calm the mind and body. Tapping, also known as Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), involves gently tapping on specific acupressure points on the body while acknowledging and releasing emotional or physical discomfort.
Drink Warm Lemon Water to Wake Up Digestion- A simple yet effective practice to support your nervous system is to start your day with a glass of warm lemon water. It can stimulate your digestive system and support detoxification, which can lead to better gut health.
Ground Your Energy - Bare Feet Grounding, also known as earthing, is a practice that involves connecting with the Earth's natural energy by walking barefoot on grass, sand, or soil. Spend a few minutes each day walking barefoot on the grass, or simply sit with your bare feet touching the ground, and feel the calming effect it can have on your nervous system.
Say and Feel What You are Grateful For - Gratitude is a powerful tool to shift our focus from what is not working to what is. Taking a few moments each day to express gratitude for the things and people you appreciate in your life can help activate the relaxation response in your nervous system. You can say your gratitude out loud, write it down in a journal, or simply think about it
Get out in nature to regulate your nervous system naturally- Spending time in nature can help regulate our nervous system naturally and promote a sense of calm and well-being. Simply going for a walk outside can help reduce stress and anxiety, lower blood pressure, and improve mood.
