The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have announced they will be taking off on a tour of Southern Africa this autumn - just 22 years after Harry's late mum Diana was forced to put her life in danger for a picture.

This will be the couple's first official tour as a family.

In a post on Instagram, the couple announced they will be jetting off to a number of countries in the region: "The Foreign and Commonwealth Office have requested a visit to South Africa as well as The Duke carrying out visits to Malawi and Angola.

"His Royal Highness will also do a short working visit to Botswana on route to the other countries."

This comes two decades after Princess Diana was forced to walk over a minefield twice because photographers weren't ready the first time, a royal insider has claimed.

Royal expert Robert Jobson, who was with Diana on the trip, revealed to the Daily Express: “She walked through the minefields and the photographers were not ready.

“And it genuinely was a minefield, where she was being led by the area that had been cleared.

“But, the photographers asked her to go back again, and she did. It was quite hilarious.”

At least they saw the funny side of it!

Harry has a strong love for Botswana and Angola, so this first trip for the couple and baby Archie will definitely be a special one for the Prince.

The pair are looking forward to the tour: "The Duke and Duchess are really looking forward to meeting so many of you on the ground and continuing to raise awareness of the high impact work local communities are doing across the commonwealth and beyond."
