Interior designer Geri O’Toole completely transformed this Connemara new build into a light, bright and beautiful home away from home for her clients
Geri O’Toole is one of Ireland’s leading interior designers, with celebrity clients like Vogue Williams on the books. Geri's latest project involved transforming this Connemara new build into a restful and tranquil holiday home for her clients.
"My client Grace and her family live overseas, so most of our meetings were done online. This is fine for us as we do a lot of design internationally, so we are used to making homes come to life from our studio," Geri says.
"We were closely involved from very early on, helping to make the right choices for everything, from flooring and finishes to the furniture and fittings.
"This was a new build designed by MJ Designs, but we wanted it to feel timeless and organic. The client wanted something light and bright, and while it is a holiday home, it was important for the family to capture that homely vibe and feel comfortable in the house."
Geri and the family focused on natural materials to complement the beauty of the views. They chose a limestone fireplace, wool rugs, linen sofas and used panelling on the fireplace focal wall for tactility and homely warmth.
"We achieved the natural and organic feeling the client was after by choosing timeless materials along with lots of wood and texture."
