An ambulance worker has shared the one thing that all parents should make sure to do when it comes to their children's safety in cars.

Aside from the obvious fact of making sure your little one has their seatbelt on, you should stick a small note to the back of your child's car seat.

This note will have on it some very important information that could end up saving your child's life in the unthinkable event of a terrible road accident.

It's a simple task that will only take a few moments to complete - but it could make the world of difference in the event of an emergency.

In a post on Facebook , the paramedic wrote: "Way too often we come upon a car wreck with child(ren) in the car who are too young to have any info and parents are unconcious."

He explains that having the child's personal information on hand could make all the difference, reports Practical Parenting.

According to the paramedic, parents should attach the note to the back of the child's car seat, including all of the relevant details a paramedic should know such as their full name, date of birth, parents' names, emergency contact phone numbers and any pre-existing medical conditions.

Knowing this information makes sure that medical staff can give your child the best possible care.

"It takes two minutes," added the paramedic. "But it could save a child's life."

The post has since gone viral with parents on Facebook sharing it far and wide as well as adding their own advice into the mix.

One mum added that parents should take down 'baby on board' stickers from their rear window once the child has grown up in case firefighters and paramedics become preoccupied searching for a baby that isn't there.
