Sinéad O'Connor
Sinéad O'Connor was a legendary Irish singer and musician, who hailed from Dublin. The Grammy-winning singer was propelled to international stardom in 1990 with her version of the hit ballad Nothing Compares 2 U. However, she was arguably as well known for being outspoken about her social and political views as for her musical talent. She was described by President Michael D Higgins as one of Ireland's "greatest and most gifted composers, songwriters and performers" following her death on July 26 2023. The 56-year-old was found unresponsive in her London flat and pronounced dead at the scene, with police saying there were no suspicious circumstances.
