Eat

No visit to Ennis is complete without lunch in The Poet’s Corner Bar in The Old Ground Hotel. Their traditional Irish menu changes daily, but the winning dish is always their vol-au-vents. Brunch and breakfast in Ennis is also an easy choice with Café Aroma, just off O’Connell Square. For something fancy, make sure you reserve The Town Hall for dinner.

Drink

Taylor’s Bar is one of the newer establishments in the town but it has already built up a reputation for its atmosphere when Clare are playing on TV. If you’re in the mood for a cocktail, check out Brogan’s and you’ll get the best pint of Guinness in PJ Kelly’s.

Walk

There are great walking tours around Ennis if you fancy diving into the history of the town. If you’re looking to be around nature, head to Ballyalla Lake or Ballybeg Woods. There is also an incredible museum housed in an old Sisters of Mercy convent – and it’s free!
