THE HAPPY COUPLE

Sarah Ward from Dublin and Darragh Tynan from Kilkenny.

THE RECEPTION

Our reception took place in Knightsbrook Hotel in Trim, Co Meath. We knew from the moment we met the wedding planner Mary that it was going to be Knightsbrook. It had everything we wanted from good food to fantastic service and various accommodation options.

STRESS FACTOR

We found out I was pregnant at Christmas, four months before the wedding, which was such a shock. That took over from the wedding for a few weeks!

THE DRESS

I went for a boho style straight dress with sleeves designed by Jenny Packham. I happened to be walking by the window of Sharon Hoey on Merrion Square on my lunch break one day and I spotted it. I had never thought about what kind of dress I wanted but when I saw it I knew that was the one. When I found out I was expecting, the staff were so supportive and reassuring. I collected my dress 48 hours before the ceremony because they wanted to make sure it fit perfectly.

HIGHLIGHTS

It was lovely to go off ourselves to the abbey with the photographer after the ceremony just to take it all in. Our wedding band Tropical Storm were also a big highlight - they even got Darragh to sing a few tunes.

THE HONEYMOON

We had been booked to go to Thailand but had to change our plans as my doctor wouldn’t agree to let me travel so we did the East Coast of America. We stopped in Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Washington and finished off with a staycation in Monart, Enniscorthy. It was the perfect mix of active and relaxed and a very memorable start to married life.
