Iconic singer Shane MacGowan has sadly died, aged 65.
His death comes after he spent most of the last 12 months in hospital care in Dublin while battling a serious blood infection.
The news of his passing was confirmed on the Pogues X account saying "It is with the deepest of sorrow and heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Shane MacGowan.
"Shane died peacefully at 3am this morning with his wife Victoria and family by his side."
“Prayers and the last rites were read which gave comfort to his family.
“He is survived by his wife Victoria, his sister Siobhan and his father, Maurice, family and a large circle of friends.”

Shane had been in an out of hospital for treatment for viral encephalitis since last December and he was permanently hospitalised in June but was discharged just last week much to the delight of his family with Shane's sister Siobhan saying "The family, we are ecstatic with it, we're absolutely ecstatic he has been released from the hospital.
"It’s fantastic, brilliant. We're not going to make any big plans, just having him home is enough. We just see each other, that's all that matters to us now.".
His wife, Victoria Mary Clarke, regularly shared pictures and updates of Shane from his hospital bed over the last few months.
Most recently, she said: “The really really big challenge that we all face is to go beyond what our minds think are the limits of love and what love really is. A lot of the time that thing we call love can more accurately be described as attachment or desire or need or longing or closeness or connection.
“And all of these are totally valuable and human and we need to acknowledge and appreciate and accept every part of our experience. But sometimes when you love very deeply you will find yourself facing terrifying fears of loss that can feel so big and devastating that you don’t know how you can survive them and you can’t imagine life without this person that you love."
Shane dated Victoria Mary Clarke for 32 years before they got married in Denmark back in November 2018.
The long-standing couple officially got married in the registry office at the Town Hall in Copenhagen before moving on to an evening reception in a restaurant in the Tivoli Gardens.
Hollywood star Johnny Depp was one of the famous faces in attendance on the big day.

Victoria previously opened up about Shane's fear of dying, she said: “Of course he’s afraid, and he’s good at talking about it — but he’s always good at being Zen about it.
She told the Sunday Independent: “That’s the thing we all discover — that we are actually all afraid of the same things. We are afraid to lose each other, and we are afraid to lose our lives because we don’t know what is next.”
